Logo Redesign | Case Study
Lake Mary Prep School | Lake Mary, FL | 2019
Goal for the project: Redesign the school logo to be more visually appealing, and look great for print and digital media with different colors.
The purpose of the redesign was to update the school image for print, digital, and event branding, website presence, social media, and school uniforms.
A challenge during this process was to create a new design that maintained similarity to the original, and contrasted well with each of the school colors; burgundy, black, grey, and white.
My process: My first step during the redesign process was to create a solid black version of the logo that appealed to the team and staff. Following the design approval, I began arranging different color scheme iterations to present. I ensured the contrast was striking and was especially easy to recognize from a distance. This made printing the logo effective for black and white, and colored media, and maintained recognition when scaled smaller.
The outcome: The Dean and staff thoroughly enjoyed the refreshed look and were excited to implement the updated logo for the upcoming school year. The new year school uniforms looked vibrant and sharp.
Advertising | Case Study
Money Pages Inc. | Jacksonville, FL | 2016-17
Goal for the project: Create advertisement designs that uniquely represent the local businesses in Jacksonville, FL.
The purpose of the advertising was to promote local businesses through magazine ads.
The challenges during this process were to rapidly create new ad designs that matched branding guides that were often not available. I worked indirectly with the clients and clear communication was often a friction point.
My process: My first step during the design process was to create a loose mock-up that included all of the notes provided by the client. Following the design approval or notes, I would create additional pieces to present until a final version was accepted. I worked on 3-5 designs daily, so organized task management was essential. Other steps in the process included preparing design files for print.
The outcome: Designs were promptly presented to clients and the draft process effectively improved productivity by eliminating frequent re-designs. This role taught me to adapt quickly to brand guidelines while working under tight deadlines.
